  • Welcome to Hippeastrum.com.au

We have come to the end of the bulb selling season once again.
It is no longer possible to post bulbs out, as they have all begun to leaf up or flower.
The Shop will open again in JUNE 2013 and all of the varieties that are of the very best quality will be for sale once more.
Please bookmark the site to check periodically as I update the varieties and select the colours for next years shop.
Some seeds and other bulbs are still available and will be available until stocks run out.

All special offers will be listed before the shop is active so that you can choose your purchase before the shop opens.

Listed on the left panel are the varieties of bulb that I grow.
The pages list a brief description and photographs as well as any growing pecularities that I have noticed over the years.
Not all varieties are for sale each season as I prefer to 'spell' some for a season or two to build their vigor.
If you wish to purchase bulbs or seed, click on the 'Shop' button at the top of the page to view the varieties and quantities that are for sale this year.
  • Hippeastrums have been a passion for me for many years now and I can't imagaine a garden without them.
They fiit into just about any spot in the garden as long as it is in full sun and well drained soil.
Hippeastrums are a wonderfully rewarding bulb to grow and quiet easy as long as you follow the basic instructions.
There is nothing more enticing as watching these plants change as the season does.
    Spring....
the bulb burst forth with beautiful tall scapes full of blooms letting you know they are there and eager to please.
Summer.... their lovely long green strap leaves break up the dimension of the garden and give vertical height to an other wise flat plane.
Autumn.... side bulbs are forming and the occasional second or third flowering may happen, as if to thank you for the care and attention you have given them.
Winter.... the bulb prepares to sleep and you can rest a little too.

Take your time to walk around our garden and inspect the varieties on each page. Simply click on the small photo and it will open to reaveal a larger photo for you to enjoy.
The information and description on each Hippeastrum is from my own experience of growing them.
